Get down to earth and out of this world by taking NATURAL FIBRES to the next level. Maybe you elevate the avante garde, transform technology or weave the whimsicle. Just make us go “wow” with what nature provides!

For this category be sure to use a MAJORITY (80%+) of natural fibres in your construction. Natural fibres include plant and animal sourced materials. Wondering what this may include? We’ve got you covered…

Plant Based Fibres

These include cotton, flax, hemp, jute, bamboo, sisal…even banana! Paper is a derived from wood pulp so it’s included too. Explore the variety of fibres that can be found from nature. Can you think of more examples? Share in the comments below…

Animal Based Fibres

Think wool, hair, fur, silk, leather, feathers to create a stunning wearable art piece. Experiment with the ways these materials can be used. Have you go any ideas how animal fibres can be ethically repurposed and sourced? Share with the team!

Think about interesting ways you can construct your wearable art to approach these natural fibres in new and interesting ways - stitch, weave, felt, layer, thread, dye, tease, knit, fuse…and so much more!

Get inspired
